     "Moses Barnes, son of Samuel and Mercy Barnes, was born in Brookfield, March 27, 1714. He married Hannah Old or Olds, and had a family of fourteen children, namely: Sarah, Samuel, Marcy, Miriam, Nathan, Jesse, Hannah, Moses, William, Elizabeth, Comfort, Mary, Patience and one other. The father died April 28, 1802, surviving his wife, whose death occurred January 31, 1797."9
