David Perkinson married Mary Cobb, daughter of Thomas Cobbs, on 18 Dec 1780 at Chesterfield County, Virginia.2 David Perkinson died in 1807 at Union County, South Carolina.1 His estate was probated on 13 Aug 1807 at Union County, South Carolina. William Perkinson gave bond as the administrator for David Perkinson. "Zachariah Beavis" was one of the bondsmen. He signed as Z. Bevis. The inventory included 8 slaves (none named Jack). A list of payments include Martha Perkinson, $375, Weldon Perkinson, $360.20 with $15 at another time, Zachariah Bevis for Phebe his wife, $390, Richd. Dickens for Polly his wife, $375, and Elizabeth Perkinson, $375. One line for Nancy Perkinson to board for this year has been marked out. This list was filed by William Perkinson with the Court of Ordinary of Union County on 6 Aug. 1810. Nancy is named elsewhere with those (children?) for whom clothing and material was purchased. William Perkinson was a frequent purchaser at the sale and the name of Zach Bevis also appears as a purchaser.1

On 10 Feb 1854, Major Charles Gault, in Union District court, stated that Phoebe Gault was his step-mother and had married his father about the year 1814, that he was his father's executor and, as such, had received the arrears of pension from the pension office and paid it to the widow Phoebe Gault.10
Robert Gault had been granted a pension as a soldier of the Revolution. After his death, his widow Phoebe applied for and obtained a pension based on his service. The following is
an abstract of her record from his pension file.
p 8: On July 11, 1853, in Union District South Carolina, Phebe Gault, 73 years old, applied for
a widow's pension under the 1853 act stating that she was the widow of Robert Gault, a

Carol[ina but now resides in Georgia where she has resided for one year and [7 months past.
[p 16: on April 4, 1866 in Cherokee County Georgia, the widow, aged 85, applied for the
reinstatement of her pension benefit as the widow of a revolutionary war soldier.
[Veteran was pensioned at the rate of $40 per annum commencing March 4th, 1831, for service as a private [f]8or one year in the South Carolina militia. His widow was pensioned in a like amount.
The amount of her pension was increased to $96 per annum after the American Civil War.]
When Phoebe Gault applied to renew her pension after the Civil War, several statements were written in support of her application. In her own declaration of 4 April 1866, she stated "I Phebe Gault do solemnly swear in the presence of Almighty God that I will henceforth faithfully support protect and defend the Constitution of [the] United States and the Union of the States thereunder that I will in like manner abide by and faithfullly support the laws and Proclamations which have been made during the Existing -??-- with reference to the emancipaition of slaves so help me God Phebe Gault"
Another statement, from Pressley Hames and Robert Page, dated 15 May 1866 stated: ". . . we also declare that she has resided in our immediate neighborhood during the late war, or Rebellion as it is called, that we know of no act nor deed that she did, to encorage the Rebels, in the rebellion against the United States Governmnent that I Pressley Hames say that I know that she did all that could to prevent some of her relations from going in to the war against the united states government but as the laws of this country required all men between certain ages to go she could not prevent them from going into the Confederate army" (from Cherokee County, Georgia).10
