     "Martha Root was born March 3, 1878, in Girard. She married P. W. Geer. They had one son, Ridgely Geer, born some time around 1910. As a young man, Ridgely Geer, who had quarreled with his parents, left home. His parents made a considerable effort to find him, but they never had any success, and nothing is known about him after his disappearance. Martha Root Geer died around 1952, in Boston. Her husband had died some time previously."³

"He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ernest Perry and one sister, Chloe Ann Rose.

"Sarah Ellen Rose Harrison, daughter of Curtis and Irene Rose, was born near Parkersburg, Ill., December 1, 1841; departed this life April 12, 1927, aged 85 years, 4 months and 11 days.
"She was converted early in life, became a charter member of the United Brethren church, and lived a consistent christian life until death.
"Aunt Sarah loved her church and her greatest regrets [sic] in recent years was that she could not attend its services.
"On November 25, 1868, she was united in marriage to Russell Harrison. To this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter, namely, Delbert, who preceded her in death; Alva, of Winter Haven, Florida, (who has cared for his mother in her last sickness), and Edith Smith of Brazil, Ind.
"Some fifteen months ago Aunt Sarah suffered a stroke of paralysis which rendered her helpless. Her illness was of long duration and no doubt her suffering was great, yet she bore it all with the greatest patience and christian fortitude. She was very appreciative to those who ministered to her.
"Her prospects for eternity were bright. Her testimony was an inspiration to all who came in contact with her. She leaves to mourn her going one son, one daughter, one brother, one sister and a number of other relatives and a host of friends."²
     Her obituary states:
"Mrs. Sarah Harrison Dies
"Mrs. Sarah Harrison died Wednesday night at her home in Parkersburg after an illness of many years.
"She is survived by one son, Alva Harrison, of Florida, who has been with her for the past several months.
"Mrs. Harrison is a sister to Mr. N. B. Rose of this city.
"Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock."
This implies her death was Wednesday, 13 Apr 1927.⁷

     Wendell Rose was born on 28 Aug 1916 at Parkersburg, Richland County, Illinois.¹ He was the son of Everett Wood Rose and Mira Smith. Wendell Rose died on 28 Nov 1997 at his home, Olney, Richland County, Illinois, at age 81.² He appears in the Social Security Death Index as having died 28 Nov 1997 with the last place of residence listed as Olney, Richland County, Illinois. "In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wendell M. Rose Memorial Fund at the Moravian Church of Southeastern Illinois Hospice.
"Rose was born Aug. 8, 1916 in Parkersburg, the son of Everett and Mira (Smith) Rose. He married Frances Voight Aug. 13, 1938, in Henderson, Ky.
"He was a farmer and member of the Moravian Church in West Salem.
"He is survived by his wife, of Olney; two sons, Phillip Rose and his wife, Donna, of Parkersburg, and John R. Rose, of Dallas, Texas; three daughters, Sue Cox and her husband, Glen, of Cisne, and Peggy Clark and Sherry Rose, both of Indianapolis, Ind; one sister, Marjorie Swinson and her husband, Glenn, of Tuscon, Ariz; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
"He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Walton, Gilbert and Raymond Rose."⁵
