Olds married (2) Phebe Golden on 29 Apr 1851 at Nauvoo, Hancock County, Illinois.5,6 Warren W. Olds died on 19 Jul 1888 at Albany, Illinois, at age 69.1 He was buried at Oakridge, Albany, Whiteside County, Illinois.7
His first wife died in 1849.1
Warren W. Olds appeared on the census of 5 Nov 1850 at District 27, Whiteside County, Illinois, as follows:
Warren Olds, age 32, carpenter, b. Mass.
listed, with no wife or children, in the family of Ivy Buck, age 49, carpenter, b. N. Y.8
"[H]e was a carpenter and purchased land and became an enthusiast of new and rare varieties of fruits and flowers; was a very religious man, member of the Baptist Church and was a singer; he had a very kindly disposition and was a favorite with children."1
Warren W. Olds and Phebe Olds appeared on the census of 28 Jul 1860 at Albany, Whiteside County, Illinois, as follows:
2870/2759 Warren Olds, 41, master carpenter, b. Mass
Pheba , 40, b. Kent.
Mary J. , 12, b. Ill.
Ellen A. , 8, b. Ill.
G. W. , 4, b. Ill.9
Warren Olds, 44, carpenter, b. Mass., of Albany, Whiteside County, Illinois is listed among Class II persons subjet to military duty.10
"Warren Olds, of Albany, is extensively engaged in the cultivation of small fruits, and is also a market gardener. He is the oldest son of Cheney and Amma (Walker) Olds, and was born Nov. 29, 1818, in Sturbridge, Worcester Co., Mass. His father was born March 3, 1793, in Brookfield, Mass., which was also the birthplace of his mother, June 23, 1794. The family descent on both sides is from the English. The progenitors emigrated to Worcester Co., Mass., in the early part of the eighteenth century. Ezekiel, father of Cheney Olds, was born in Worcester County, and about 1800 went to New Jersey. Soon after the close of the second war with Great Britain, he settled in Auburn, Cayuga Co., N. Y., where he became interested in the lumber business, owning a saw-mill, and managing the traffic in its various avenues until his death."
...
"Mr. Olds, of this sketch, was nine years of age when his parents went to the State of New York, where he grew up. He accompanied them on their removal to Albany, Ill., and on arrival there obtained immediate employment at the carpenter and joiner's trade. While living in Franklinville, Cattaraugus Co., N. Y., he obtained a practical knowledge of the trade of carpenter, at which he worked during the year previous to his removal to Albany. The first work in Illinois done by Mr. Olds was the building of a sod fence at a point seven miles south of Albany, in which he was assisted by Warren Fay and Timothy Clark. They occupied a log shanty, and attended to their domestic affairs after the method known as "keeping bach." They had numerous adventures, all of which served to break the monotony of toil, and aided materially in making the situation interesting. One Saturday afternoon the party were on their way to Albany in a skiff on the river, when five stalwart Indians swam out to them and compelled them to go ashore, where they were detained two hours. Their captors searched their clothes thoroughly, and after holding a council of some sort, they were set at liberty, and made their way to Albany. During the period of their detention their thoughts were made entertaining by visions of scalping, burning, and other interesting devices they had seen delineated by illustrations of the encounters between whites and Indians.
"Mr. Olds passed his first summer in Illinois at a point two miles north of Galena, where he obtained employment in haying and harvesting. In 1839 he went to Platteville, Grant Co., Wis., and the next two years he was engaged in steamboat and barge building at Rock Island. He returned at the end of that time to Albany, and was employed by George Clark five years as a builder. A few years later, in company with Duty Buck, he built a steam saw-mill at Albany, in whose management they were jointly interested until their establishment and business were wrecked by the tornado of June 3, 1860, in which Mr. Buck lost his life.
"Mr. Olds continued to operate as a contractor and builder until 1877, when he engaged in the enterprise to which he has since given his attention. He owns 31 acres of land in first-class condition, situated adjoining the village of Albany, where he cultivates all kinds of small fruits. His market list for 1884 comprised 13, 344 quarts, or 417 bushels, of strawberries, 196 cases of black raspberries, each containing 16 quarts, 202 cases of red raspberries, 255 cases of blackberries, 40 cases of cherries and 50 cases of grapes. He also raises many varieties of vegetables.
"Mr. Olds was first united in marriage to Harriet Shively, and they had two children. One is now living - Mary Jane. The wife and mother died in 1850. Mr. Olds was married a second time in Hancock Co., Ill., to Phebe, daughter of Jacob Golden. She was born in Mason Co., Ky. Four children were born of the second marriage, one of whom, George W., is still living."11 Warren W. Olds left a will on 3 Mar 1888 at Albany, Whiteside County, Illinois. He was 69 years of age and of sound mind and memory. He gave his daughter Mary Jane Robinson two hundred dollars to be paid to her within two years after his death. He gave five hundred dollars to his granddaughter Ellen Ellingham, to be paid to her or her guardian on or before her 15th birthday. The rest, both real and personal, went to his wife Phebe Olds but if she should die without having disposed it all by will or otherwise, then his son George W. Olds, if living, was to get the remainder. If George was not living, then to his child or children but if none then to "my granddaughter Ellen Ellingham". Wife Phebe Olds and son George W. Olds were to be executrix and executor. The will was proven and admitted to probate on 1 Aug 1888.12

William Olds was born on 25 Jan 1785 at Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts.1 He was the son of William Olds and Abigail Hewes.1 William Olds married Sarah Upham on 5 Jun 1806.2,3,4 William Olds died in 1834 at Brookfield, Worcester County, Massachusetts.5,6,7
They lived at Brookfield, Massachusetts. The printed Brookfield Vital Records show Hannah Shumway Olds as a daughter of David and Sally Olds who are also shown as parents in the death record of Susanna Blair Olds (d. May 4, 1829 (not 1839 as in E. B. Olds), age 3 years and 11 months and therefore born June 1825 as was Susanna Blair Olds, daughter of William and Sally). The orginal Brookfield records do not support this and show no David Olds. David of Brookfield is an error for William. David and Sally (Thornton) Olds of Belcherton were married in 1807, but he died in 1811. Hannah Shumway Olds and Susan Blair Olds were not his children.5,8
