Mrs. Mary Frances Hedrick, 84, widow of the late A.L. Hedrick, passed away June 22 at the Olney Summers Clinic where she had been a patient since last November. Funeral services for Mrs. Hedrick were held June 24 at the Moravian church by Rev. Reuben Gross, assisted by Rev. H.E. Longbons. Burial was in the Moravian cemetery, where grave side services were conducted by the Olney Chapter of the Daughters of the Union Veterans who attended the funeral in a body. Her husband, who died in 1945, was the last surviving Civil War veteran in Edwards county."7

They settled on his farm just north of West Salem and she assumed a new role, that of stepmother, becoming a real mother to his children. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, and two sons, Ben and Parle Libikie, and one daughter Mary. She is survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren."8

The cost was $250 less $80 paid by Mrs. Ellie Turner and $100 paid by Provident Insurance. There was also a bill from Wood Mortuary.9

The accompanying letter said she had not had her computer long and there was more to enter.
