" Lois Wood was born January 19, 1830, in Townline, Lyme county, Conn. September 5, 1846, with her parents she moved to Michigan. She was married at Jackson, Mich., Sept. 22, 1855 to Silas W. Olds. They moved to Gratiot county and remained there two years, then came back to the old homestead where she has since resided till she died after a short sickness, December 12, 1903. Eight children were born to them, one dying in infancy, while the other seven still survive her. Frank Olds of Gratiot county, Bert and Jesse of Leslie, Mrs. Mary Mason, Mrs. Quackinbush of Leslie, and Mrs. Carrie Shotwell of Bunker Hill. She was a kind mother, a loving, uncomplaining, faithful wife and a kind neighbor, and will be sadly missed from her home and community. Let us hope she has gone to hear the Master's applaudit, "Well done, Thou good and faithful servant. Thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many." Dearest Mother, thou has left us, Here thy loss we deeply feel, But 'tis God that hath bereft us. He can all our sorrows heal."8
