Her casket bearers were Robert Marshall, Chris Weesner, Ray Schnauz, Harold Michael, Sr., Harold Michael, Jr., and Bert Roby.3,4
I visited her to discuss family history in June, 1967, when she was living at Golden Acres (retirement home) in West Salem, Ill. "Miss Arna Michael was born in Richland County, on a farm 2 1/2 miles south-east of Parkersburg, on March 3, 1886.
"When she was a young girl her parents moved to Parkersburg where her father operated a general store together with Albert Smith, his brother-in-law until the year 1907 when they moved back to the farm.
"She attended Normal school at (Bloomington marked out) Normal, Illinois to prepare herself for the teaching profession. She taught in the rural schools of Richland and Edwards County from 1907 to spring of 1918.
"Soon after she went to _____ Tenn to study and train for photography work. She persued this occupation, retouching of negatives, in studios at St. Louis, Mo., Evansville, Ind., Indianapolis, Ind., and at Champaign-Urbana, Ill.
"She for several years from 1919 until [page break here -- page missing?] from the middle of September until the next May or June, then home to help with the summer work of gardening, canning, housecleaning, etc.
"In 1941 they (sold marked out), she and Elsie, left the farm soon after Henry's marriage, after having a public sale.
"After Elsie's death in 1944 Arna lived mostly in Olney, Ill. She rented room or apartment from Lucy Fildes, Mrs. Woods, Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Ella Findley on North Fair. She lived at Mrs.Woods twice, also lived at Mrs. Carrolls.
"She left Olney to live with her sister, Mary Marshall on farm south of Parkersburg and from there went to the Golden Acres Care Home of West Salem, where she passed away."
[Magaret Ann Weesner King found these pages, in the handwriting of Venus Weesner, in the memory book from the funeral of Arna Michael. It may have been intended as an obituary. The last paragraph is in a different hand.]5

"Miss Arna Ione Michael, age 86, a former resident of 311 N. Fair Street passed away last evening at Golden Acres Sheltered Care Home in West Salem.

Agnes Mikkelson married Robert Bissett Dollahan, son of Henry Franklin "Frank" Dollahon and Delilah Susan Bowers, on 2 Feb 1922 at Mohall, Renville County, North Dakota.1 Agnes Mikkelson died on 13 Feb 1979.2
Bob Dollahan shared some information about his wife as follows:
"Agnes, who was my wife for fifty seven years and eleven days, passed away Feb. 13, 1979. She, in my opinion, was a very talented as well as good Christian woman. She was good at oil paintings, and I dont mean painting by numbers, the real things starting with just a plain white canvas and an idea. We lived in Grand Forks, N. D. for 17 years and nearly every winter she went to the University and took ceramics, including hand modeling, Casting, form making, even making tiles and all the things connected with the course. She kept every thing, mostly, that she made so our house and garage is full. You can see that our daughter, Katherine and her two daughters, Kay Lynn and Roberta and their husbands [are] going to have a job some day getting it all sorted out and see who wants this and who wants that. I will be gone on my last journey and I am not in any hurry.
"Speaking of religion
"Agnes was raised a Lutheran and I was raised in the Church of the Bretheran. She was not exactly happy with hers and the same for me about mine and of course there are very few Church of the Bretheran around anymore so she never got a chance to visit one. We decided to join a Congregational and we were that for many years but when we came to Bellingham their Cong. church was not the kind we were familiar with and Agnes met with several Methodist women and liked them very much so she started going there but did not join. Agnes liked their Ladies program especially bazaars because she knew how to do a lots in that work and they were happy to have her abiilities and because they all liked her and she made a lot of friends. We went to the methodist and contributed each Sunday w[h]ether we were there or not. Since she passed away I decided to join the Methodist and did.

"About Agnes
"I told you she passed away but not how.
"In early Sept 1978 she got a stroke one morning before breakfast. I called ambulance and had her taken to the hospital. This town has two stroke specialists. As soon as she was in bed he made several tests and told us that it was real bad stroke and her chances of recovering were less that 50-50. Her right side was completely paralized, she lost her voice and some other things. After a few days she got so she could move her left foot so it looked rather promising. She never did regain her voice nor the right hand. She had the services of three therapists but she could not walk without help. Her mind was real good and even though she could not talk she and I figured out a sign language which we could handle pretty will. We had her in one of those homes after she was in a regular hospital about a week. She did not have any pain. I tried to spend about 2 hours every morning with her and from 3 to 4 hours every afternoon and we used to have lots of fun. She liked to play jokes on me and so I helped her with them some times by pretending I was surprised. During part of the month of December and during January I used [to] take [her] for a ride in the car around town and to some of the Super Markets because she loved to shop. I could haul the wheel chair in the trunk of the car and when we arrived at the market I would put her in the wheel chair and we would go up and down the aisles of the stores and she had her fun of going shopping without buying. Our wedding anniversary (our 57th one) was on February 2, 1979 and on the 7th she had another stroke and passed away on the 13th without regaining consciousness."2
