Fern Rice was born c 1893 at Colorado.1 She married Harrison O. Olds, son of Wilson Albert Olds Sr. and Margaret Elizabeth Burgess, on 17 Jan 1915 at Seattle, Washington.2
Fern Olds and Harrison O. Olds appeared on the census of 3 Jan 1920 at Woodrow Avenue, Township 3, Fresno, California, as follows:
41/43 Olds, Harrison, head, owner, 31, b. Oregon, father b. Michigan, mother b. Ind., structural iron, buildings
, Fern, 26, b. Colorado, father b. U. S., mother b. Missouri.3
Although I have lost definite contact with this family after 1920, she may be the Fern Olds, age 41 of 341 W. Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, Illinois, who on 27 Sep 1934 in Kitsap County, Washington, applied for a license to marry Glen D. Howater, 45, of Seattle, Washington.4 They were married in Kitsap County on the same day.1
Fern Howater appears in FindAGrave as Fern N. Howater, 20 May 1893 - 29 Aug 1979, wife of Glen Dale Howater, 17 Oct 1888 - 5 Feb 1967. Unfortunately the photo of the stone shows only the inscription "HOWATER",5.
Corroboration of identity is still needed but some may taken from the mddle initial N because Fern is found in the 1900 and 1910 census records as Fern N. Rice, daughter of Charles and Emma J. Rice, at ages 7 and 16.
