Friedericka Maria Schmidt died in 1876 at Bureau County, Illinois.

M. Germany" via Munich [Germany], Prestwick [Glasgow], and Goose Bay [Newfoundland-Labrador]. They had two pieces of stowed luggage, weighing 59 pound. His weight (wifh carry on luggage) was 149 pounds and hers was 123.6
Operation Safe Haven was set up to rescue Hungarian refugees from their homeland after the Soviet response to the Hungarian revolt of 1956. The airlift was ordered by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on Dec. 10, 1956, as a Cold War response to the Soviet suppression of the Hungarian revolt. It was a joint endeavor by the United States Bolling and Military Air Transport Services, the United States Navy, and various commercial aircraft. On January 1, 1957, air transports from the 1608th Air Transport Wing from Charleston Air Force Base, S.C., and 175 aircraft from the 1611th Air Transport Wing from McGuire AFB, N.J., relocated 9,700 refugees to the United States, under the direction of Airlift Task Force commander Major General George B. Dany. In addition to air transport, from December 18, 1956, through February 14, 1957, ships of the Navy's Military Sea Transportation Service (USNS Eltinge, Haan, Marine Carp, and Walker) transported 8,944 refugees from Bremerhaven, Germany, to Camp Kilmer, NJ, USA. These refugees were job-classified by the U.S. Labor Department as they made their way to American shores. In total, some 38,000 refugees were permanently resettled in the United States

"Mrs. Bryant Olds, of Oklahoma, arrived here the latter part of last week—a little too late to attend the funeral of her little brother, John Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Schmidt. Miss Ida came down from Chicago to attend the funeral."2

"Died suddenly at his home in Wyanet, John A. Schmidt, youngest son of William and Minne Schmidt, living two miles north of Wyanet. On Monday he went to Wyanet. Coming home he was taken sick with scarlet fever. Arriving at home, a physician was called, and, altho strenuous efforts were made to keep his temperatuire down, it continued to rise; and, on Wednesday evening he passed away. His sister Emma, who had had the same disease, is convalescing but was unable to see her brother before his remains were laid to rest.
"Johnnie was born in Wyanet, May 19,1888. He attended the district school, and planning to enter the Princeton High School when he was taken sick. He was a member of the German Lutheran church; also, the Wesleyan Methodist Sabbath school, at Hickory Grove, and to these a regular attendant. He was beloved by all who knew him, and will be sadly missed in his cricle of friends.
"Besides his father and mother, he leaves three sisters -- Mrs. Anna Olds of Oklahoma; Miss Ida Schmidt of Chicago; and Miss Emma Schmidt and a brother, William Schmidt, at home.
"The funeral service was held at the home on Friday, conducted by Rev.C. E. Stebbins of West Bureau. Interment at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton.
"Mr. Schmidt and family have the love and sympathy of the whole neighborhood in their sad bereavement."1

Mary Blanche Schmidt was the daughter of Henry Schmidt.3 Mary Blanche Schmidt was born on 30 Dec 1896.4 She married (1) Ira Dennis Ridgely, son of Russel R. Ridgely and Margaret Jane Keen, on 29 Feb 1916.4 Mary Blanche Schmidt married George Paul Koertge, son of Peter Christian August Koertge and Sarah Koehler, on 29 Jan 1950.5,6 Mary Blanche Schmidt died on 7 Feb 1961.4 She was buried on 10 Feb 1961 at Moravian Cemetery, West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois.7,8

Wilhelm Henrich Theodor Schmidt was born on 28 Jul 1849 at Palmzin, Pommern, Prussia. He was the son of Johann Ernst Christian Schmidt and Friedericka Maria Schmidt. Wilhelm Henrich Theodor Schmidt married Wilhelmina Hopp, daughter of Christian Hopp and Ricke Wolf(e), on 22 Jul 1873 at Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Wilhelm Henrich Theodor Schmidt died on 9 Mar 1933 at Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois, at age 83.1 He was buried on 12 Mar 1933 at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois.1

He had been naturalized in the circuit court of Bureau County, Illinois, on 21 March 1877. He was described as 57 years old, 5' 8" with medium low forhead, blue eyes, straight nose, medium large mouth, ordinary chin, light brown hair, slightly gray, fair complexion, with round and full face.3

William Schmidt was born in Palmzen, Pomerania, Germany, July 28, 1849 and died in Princeton, Illinois, March 9, 1933, aged 83 years, 7 months and 11 days.
Mr. Schmidt came with his father's family from Germany in 1866 and landed in New York November 7th of that same year. They came on to Chicago where they remained for about one year when they moved to a farm newr Walnut. Here the departed lived until his marriage, in Wunder's church, Chicago, on June 22, 1879 [sic] to Miss Wilhelmina Hopp. Shortly after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt settled in Bureau County near DePue. After a few years of residence here they moved to Fontanelle, Iowa, where for several years they made their home, They returned to Bureau County and made their home on a farm north of Wyanet where they lived until 1904 when they retired and settled in Princeton. Mrs. Schmidt, who had been a faithful helpmate for nearly half a century, passed away May 31, 1919.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt of whom four are living. They are Mrs. Anna Olds of Chicago, Mrs. Ida Vetter of Cleveland, Ohio, Mr. William C. Schmidt, of Aurora, Illinois, and Mrs. Emma Albrecht of Princeton.
One sister, Mrs. Freda Fink, who is now 89 years of age is still living in Ohio, Illinois. Besides the above, the departed also leaves behind him five grandchildren and one great grandchild. These attacks became more frequent and severe until about seven weeks ago he took to his bed. He grew weaker and weaker from that time until the end came Thursday morning at 7:00 o'clock.5
His death certificate, with Mrs. Emma Albrecht as informant, shows that he was born in Palmzin, Germany, 28 July 1849, son of John Schmidt, b. Germany, and Fredericka Schmidt, b. Germany. He lived at 231 N. Main Street, Princeton, IL, a retired farmer and widower of Wilhelmina Schmidt. He died 9 March 1933, age 83 years, 7 months, 11 days, and was buried 12 March 1933 in Oakland Cemetery, Princeton. He had last worked in March, 1904, had lived in Princeton for 29 years and in the U. S. for 67 (?) years. He died of chronic myocarditis and chronic nephritis. on 11 Mar 1933.1

Interment was made in Oakland cemetery beside his wife, who passed away May 31, 1919.
