Dr. Lyell Reppert was born on 16 Oct 1877 at Iowa.1,2 He was the son of Ferdinand "Fred" Reppert and Emma Olds.1 Dr. Lyell Reppert died on 30 May 1913 at age 35.1 He was buried at Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine, Muscatine County, Iowa.3
He was a physician.1
LYELL REPPERT, M. D. Dr. Lyell Reppert is one of the younger representatives of the medical profession in Muscatine, yet his age seems no bar to his ability nor to the confidence reposed in him by his fellow townsmen, for he is accorded a liberal and growing practice. He was born in Muscatine, October 16, 1878, and is a son of Ferdinand and Emma (Olds) Reppert, the former a native of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and the latter of Muscatine. The mother was a daughter of Lyman Whitney Olds, a native of Ohio, who became one of the early settlers of this city. Coming here when it was but a small town, he engaged in the dry-goods business, in which he continued through the period of the Civil war. He was a very progressive, enterprising man, and his labors were an element in the substantial growth and upbuilding of this section of the state. He died at an advanced age in the year 1895. Unto him and his wife, Sarah Olds, there were born two children who lived to adult age, Emma and Ella. The former gave her hand in marriage to Ferdinand Reppert, who had become one of the early merchants of Muscatine, where he conducted a drug store. His death occurred here when he was fifty-six years of age, and his wife passed away in 1900 at the age of fifty-two. They were both members of the Congregational church and Mr. Reppert was for thirteen years a member of the school board. The cause of education found in him a stalwart champion and he took active and helpful interest in many movements relative to the public good.
Dr. Reppert was reared in Muscatine and in his youthful days attended the public schools, wherein he pursued the studies taught in successive grades until graduated from the high school with the class of 1896. Later he entered the University of Iowa, wherein he devoted one year to the study of dentistry and four years to medicine. He was graduated therefrom in 1902 and immediately afterward left for Europe, spending a year in Vienna, Austria, where he attended the clinics of some of the most eminent physicians and surgeons of that great center of medical science. He afterward worked in the slums of Dublin, Ireland, in connection with the Rotunda Hospital, and upon his return to Muscatine opened an office and has since engaged in practice here. He has proven his worth in the excellent results which have attended his efforts to check the ravages of disease and restore health. He belongs to Muscatine County Medical Society, Iowa State Medical Society and American National Medical Association, and keeps in touch with the advanced thought of the day through wide reading and research. His religious faith is indicated by his membership in the Congregational church and his political views are evidenced in the stalwart support which he gives to the republican party.4
His obituary states: Muscatine Journal May 30, 1913
"Dr. Lysle Reppert, a well known Muscatine physician, was found dead in bed at the Broughton Sanitarium at Rockford, Illinois, last evening according to Muscatine friends. His death was very sudden and unexpected. During the day he suffered slight pain in his chest but this did not defer him from entering a game of baseball with other patients. In the evening, he attended the usual evening lecture and at it's conclusion he was taken to his room by one of the attendants. A few minutes later it was found that life was extinct.
"The announcement of the death of the local practitioner comes as a shock as it was not generally known that he was in failing health. Few knew that he was in a sanitarium.
"Dr. Lysle Reppert was one of Muscatine's best known residents. He was born in this city in a house at the corner of Broadway and Fourth streets. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Fred Reppert, both of whom passed away some time ago. He was about 37 years of age.
"Dr. Reppert was a graduate of the State University of Iowa, where he was affiliated with Pei[sic] Delta Theta fraternity. After receiving his degree from the state university, Dr. Reppert spent a short time attending medical college at Viena [sic], Austria. Later he took up post graduate work in hospitals at Dublin and London. During his practice, Dr. Reppert was very much interested in the research work and spent much time and large sums of money investigating tuberculosis serums.
"With the death of Lysle Reppert, the line of an old family is broken. Fred Reppert, father of Lysle Reppert passed away some ten years ago and his sister Ella died about eight years ago. The only surviving relative is an aunt, Mrs. Ella O. Payne of Warsaw, Kentucky. The remains, in all probability will be brought to Muscatine for interment. He was the grandson of the late L. W. Olds. Dr. Reppert never married.
"His death is attributed to heart failure. An inquest was held today and testimony was presented by various attendants at the institution where he died. Dr. Reppert went to the sanitarium about a week ago and appeared to be making rapid improvement since he began taking treatments there."5

"ANOTHER PIONEER IS CLAIMED BY DEATH
"A E REYNOLDS WAS ONE OF THE FIRST MERCHANTS OF HARTFORD AND WELL KNOWN
"The death of Ansel E Reynolds, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Hinkley, on Maple Street last Sunday morning, removes one of the best known pioneers of this section and one of the first merchants of Hartford village.
' "Mr. Reynolds was born in Canada, August 6, 1826, and came to Michigan with his parents when twelve years of age, the family settling near Ypsilanti. When a young man he came to Hartford and took up a piece of land southwest of the village from which he cleared the virgin forest and developed a fertile farm, and which is still known as the Reynold's Place.
"In 1855, he was married to Julia Olds, a daughter of Ferdino Olds, who was the first white settler in Hartford Township. Mrs. Reynolds died fifteen years ago. Mr. Reynolds passed nearly his entire life in Hartford, assuming a prominent part in the early affairs of the community and contributing in no small degree to the development of the village during its early days. Erecting a small frame building just east of the present town hall, he established the first dry goods store and was one of the first merchants of Hartford.
"Later he erected the brick block now known as the Hartford town hall and continued in the mercantile trade, conducting one of the largest stores of which Hartford boasted during those years. During his whole career Mr. Reynolds took an active interest in all public affairs and matters of political movement, which coupled with his extensive commercial operations gained for him an extensive acquaintance all through this section of the county.
"Mr. Reynolds was active until about 10 years ago, when he suffered a stroke of paralysis and has since been in enfeebled health. But despite his 84 years, he retained good possession of his mental faculties, maintaining his interest in current events and being conversant with all the early history of this section of the state.
"He leaves two sons, Otto Reynolds of Chicago, and Will Reynolds, of whom no word has been received for more than a year, but is supposed to be in the west, and three daughters, Mrs. E. Hubbard of Chicago, Mrs. Kittie Nichols of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Nina Hinkley of this village. He also leaves one brother, Maylon Reynolds of Remus, Mich., and three sisters, one residing at Detroit, one at Duluth, and one in New York city.
"Funeral services for him were attended at the home of his daughter, Tuesday afternoon, Rev James A Brown officiating, and interment took place at Maple Hill."2
