     George Andrew Hess was born on 13 Oct 1870 at Momence, Illinois.1 He was the son of James Hess and Margaret Olds.1
     "He early turned his attention to obtaining an education. After passing through the high school at Momence, Ill., he attended the Indiana State Normal School at Valparaiso, intending to take a course in law. He changed his plans, however, and turned to theology. While pursuing his studies along those lines he taught school during vacation, preachng Sundays. His first pastorate was in Greene, Ia., where for two years he was pastor of the Christian church. Later he went to Nora Springs, Ia., where he was very successful and well liked. His next charge was the Christian church in Charles City, Ia." His address in Jan 1908 was 205 Blair St., Charles City, Iowa.2

     Garald Gray Hickel was born c 1921 at Wayne County, Illinois. He was the son of Stella Washington.2 Garald Gray Hickel married Esther Fae Ridgely, daughter of Homer Edwin Ridgely and Ethel Mae Rash, in 1947.2 Garald Gray Hickel died on 26 Aug 1971 at his home, Olney, Richland County, Illinois.3 He was buried at St. Josephp's Cemetery, Olney, Richland County, Illinois.2
     He was a son of Harry and Stella (Washington) Hickel.2 His name is sometimes spelled Gerald and he was called Jerry.
     His obituary states:
     "Funeral services for Garald G. Hickel, age 50,who passed away suddenly yesterday morning at the family residence, will be held on Saturday morning at 10:30 in the memorial chapel of Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with Rev. C. T. Cramer officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
"Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today.
"Mr. Hickel was born in Wayne County, the son of Harry Hickel and Stella Washington Hickel. He was married to Esther Ridgely. Mr. Hickel was a veteran of World War II and had served in as a member of the 4266th. BU Unit, of the United States Army.
"He leaves his wife, Esther, and four children; Jerry, Scott, Michael and Jennifer, all at home. A twin sister, Mrs. Geraldine Bolander of Olney and a brother Scott Hickel of Rantoul also survive."2
