     Juliana "Juli" Corinne VanAken was born on 1 Feb 1947 at East Lansing, Michigan.1,3 She was the daughter of Warner Bryant VanAken and Jean Lenore Johnson.2 Juliana "Juli" Corinne VanAken died on 20 Jul 2013 at age 66.1
     Her address (Jan. 1996) was14225 N. 47th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85032.
She graduated from Central High School i Phoenix and attended Arizona State where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. She also graduated from a course as a Medical Secretary.2
     Her obituary states:
     "Tarver, Juliana "Juli" Corinne[,] 66, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on July 20, 2013. She was born February 1, 1947 in East Lansing, Michigan to Dr. Warner "Van" and Jean Van Aken. Her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1959, where her father, a veterinarian, ran Van Aken Pet Hospital. Juli attended Central High School, graduating in 1965. She then attended Arizona State University, where she studied nursing and became a sister in the ADPi Sorority. While there, she met the love of her life, Michael "Mike" Tarver. They married in January of 1968, and later that year moved to Biloxi, Mississipi where Mike began his service with the US Air Force. They returned to Phoenix in 1972, and have called it home ever since. Juli served as Chief Encourager to her husband, a small business owner in Scottsdale, AZ, to her two daughters, Kristin and Lindy, her two sons-in-law, three grandchildren, and many, many family members and friends. An expert baker, she gave free pie lessons to countless women and men in the Valley, and was known for her famous fudge. Juli also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Payson, AZ. She cared deeply about her country and was a true patriot. Her life was characterized by her strong faith in God and her innate desire to shower love on others. She was a friend to all, and was the picture of generosity. She had a radiant glow that was infectious to all. Juli will be missed deeply and loved always by her husband, Mike Tarver of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Kristin (Craig) Tarver Reilly of Scottsdale, AZ, and Lindy (Adam) Roberts of Phoenix, AZ; three grandchildren, Sylvianne Reilly, Ian and Kasey Roberts; three siblings, Bruce (Suzette) Van Aken of Kent, WA, Christie Van Aken of Jacksonville, OR, and Ed Van Aken of Portland, OR, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. "Juli," "Mom," "Nana," thank you for the life you lived and the love you showed. We love you, miss you, and will pass on your memory for generations to come.      He graduated from Coldwater High School where he played varsity football. He attended Purdue University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and played one year of varsity football. He served in the medical Corps in World War II, where he was a staff sargeant. He graduated from Purdue in 1943 with a B. S. and from Michigan State with a D. V. M. He owns Van Aken Pet Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.1
     His obituary states:
     "Van Aken, Dr. Warner Bryant "Van", 90, passed away May 1, 2011 in Medford, Ore. Van was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Coldwater, Mich. to Warner and Gladys Van Aken. He played varsity football at both high school and college levels, attending Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pre-Med. Van was also a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Purdue. On Sept. 20, 1942 in St Louis, MO, he married Jean Lenore (Johnson). After serving in World War II in the Army, where he was honorably discharged as a first sergeant, Van earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1950. He practiced veterinary medicine from 1950 to 1959 in Indiana and then moved to Phoenix, Ariz. with his family, where he opened Van Aken Pet Hospital in 1959. He and his wife, a Registered Nurse, operated the successful small animal practice until their retirement in 1980. The hospital still bears their name. Van will be remembered for his devotion and dedication to the life-long care and healing of animals. Van had a loving marriage to Jean (Johnson), originally from Quincy, Mich. for 64 years until her death on June 23, 2006. During their retirement, they enjoyed sailing, living aboard their 30-ft Catalina boat in Oceanside, Calif. for three years. They also loved golfing and traveling in their RV to Arizona, California, Nevada, Washington and Oregon before moving to Jacksonville, Ore. in 2003. During the last five years of his life, Van lived with and was cared for by his daughter, Christie. Van had a strong faith in God and took comfort in knowing he would one day be reunited with his wife Jean. Van is survived by his four children, Juli (Mike) Tarver of Phoenix, Ariz., Bruce (Suzette) Van Aken of Kent, Wash., Christie Van Aken of Jacksonville, Ore., and Edward Van Aken of Portland, Ore; six grandchildren, Kristin (Craig) Tarver Reilly, Lindy (Adam) Roberts, Andrea (Jerry) Phaneuf, Kai Van Aken, Celina and Jesse Weeg; and five great-grandchildren, Ian, Kasey, Vivien, Molly, and Caitie. "Dad," "Poppy," we love you, will miss you and will carry your stories and spirit for generations to come.      Ann Caroline Venner was born on 5 May 1867 at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin.2 She married Milo Nathan Olds, son of Nathan Olds and Elizabeth "Betsey" Stevens, on 4 Oct 1886 at Corona, South Dakota.1 Ann Caroline Venner married (2) Peter Schafer in 1925.3,4 Ann Caroline Venner died on 9 Sep 1944 at Beach, North Dakota, at age 775 and was buried on 13 Sep 1944 at Stanton Cemetery, Stanton, North Dakota.6,5
     Ann Caroline Venner was also known as Carrie.

     Her obituary states:
"Mrs. Carrie Schafer Funeral on Sept. 13
"Death came to Mrs. Carrie Schafer on Sept. 9 at Beach, N. D., and funeral services were held on Sept. 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Martin's Catholic church at Mason with Fr. Wibbels officiating. Interment was made in the Stanton cemetery.
"Born the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Venner at Hazel Green, Wisc. on May 5, 1867, she accompanied her sister, Mrs. Mary Jacobs, to Milbank, S. D., in the early 80's. She was married to Milo N. Olds on Oct. 4, 1886. To this union were born five sons and one daughter. One son, Willie, preceded her in death.
"In 1903, the family moved to Stanton, where Mr. Olds homesteaded, on the Missouri River flat. Mr. Olds died in 1919[sic]. In 1925, Mrs. Olds was married to Peter Schafer, who died at Stanton in 1942.
"In the spring of 1942, Mrs. Schafer moved to Montana and made her home with her son, Harry, until this last June. She was brought to Beach on the first lap of a journey, with the intention of entering the St. Vinson home at Bismark. She was left at Beach until room was secured for her in Bismark. She had been in poor health for the past three years.
"She is survived by five children, Arthur Olds of Glasgow, Mont., Harry Olds of Plains, Mont., Leo Olds of Seatte, Wash., Mrs. Ben Janssen and Nathan Olds, both of Stanton, in addition to 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jacobs of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Rose Gibbles of Des Moines, Ia."4
