Lee M. Olds was born on 21 Oct 1874.1 He was the son of Walter Olds and Marie J. Merritt.1 Lee M. Olds married Winifred L. Keogh on 16 Oct 1902.2,3
"Maj. Lee M. Olds, a 'native son' of Indiana, was born at Columbia City October 21, 1874. He is the son of Walter and Marie J. (Merritt) Olds. He was educated in the public schools of Columbia City and took a two-year course at Wabash College. He then entered Michigan Military Academy at Orchard Lake, Michigan, graduating from that institution in 1893. He then took a one-year literary course at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, entered the law department of the same university, graduating from that department in 1896. At the time of his graduation he was president of the Law Students' Association of the three law schools in Chicago, comprising about 2,500 students. He immediately entered into the practice of law with his father, Judge Walter Olds at Chicago.
"He enlisted during the Spanish-American War and was elected captain of Company A, One Hundred and Sixty-First of Indiana, of which regiment ex-Governor Winfield T. Durbin was colonel. He was afterward promoted to major of that regiment, serving until the close of the war, having been in Cuba several months. It is said of him by the historian of the One Hundred and Fifty-First Indiana Regiment that 'he was a born commander.'"
"At the close of the Spanish-American War Major Olds did not feel that he wanted to at once take up indoor work again, therefore he took employment with a railroad construction company for about a year, after which he went to Korea with a mining company and was engaged there for another year. While engaged in railroad construction work and mining he had a large number of men under his supervision.
"After his experience in mining he returned to this country and located in San Francisco in 1902, re-entering the practice of law, devoting all his time and energy to his profession. He immediately established a practice which by reason of his strict integrity, energy and ability has steadily grown until he is now enjoying a lucrative practice and is one of San Francisco's leading lawyers.
"Major Olds was married to Miss Winifred L. Keogh, a native of San Francisco, in 1902, and to them have been born three sons, Walter K., Merrit R., and Winfield L."4

"Leon B. Olds, Alba young man, met death early Friday morning when the truck he was driving collided with a Berkley-Royal Oak bus near Detroit. The truck burned and it was some time before the fire was extinguished and his body could be removed from the cab of the truck. He was badly burned about the chest and head.

"Surviving are his wife, Ruth; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Olds; a sister, Lucille, who is Mrs. Floyd Gregory of Bellaire; a brother Earl Olds of Alba, and many other relatives.
"Funeral services were held at his parents' home east of Alba Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Services were conducted by Rev. Allen Schreur of Gaylord. Burial was in Star township cemetery. The large attendance and the number of floral pieces attested the high esteem that the deceased, his wife, parents and relatives hold among their friends."2
