Henry Olds was born c 1820 at New York.2 He married Sarah Wheeler on 9 Mar 18453 and he died in 1866 at Ohio.1
Henry Olds and Sarah Olds appeared on the census of 17 Aug 1850 at Salem Township, Ottawa County, Ohio, as follows:
This Henry and Nelson Olds are of unknown parents. Was one really born in N.Y. and the other in N. J.? Could they be brothers? Perhaps they were not as old as this record indicates? In the 1850 census of Lake County, Ohio, the family of Zenas Olds included sons Nelson, 14, and Henry, 12. These were different people of course but the name repetition may be a clue to relationship. Zenas Olds was a grandson of Comfort Olds, Sr.
Alice Fields, a descendant searching for this ancestry, wrote "I am Leroy Olds Granddaughter. Leroy was the son of Charles Ferdinand. Both Leroy and Charles Ferdinand were born in Oak Harbor, Ohio. Charles Ferdinand was the son of Henry. There we are stuck. I have Henry's military records, but they do not list a birthdate or birth location. Census records indicate that Henry was born in New York. My mother was Leroy (Roy)'s daughter. She always said that Comfort Olds "was the Granddaddy of them all". We think that Henry was the son of Chester Olds, but have no official information."5
Henry Olds and Sarah Olds appeared on the census of 11 Jul 1860 at Salem Township, Ottawa County, Ohio, as follows:

His obituary states:
"The Hartford Day Spring, Wednesday, March 6, 1935, pages 1 and 8
"LIFE OF PIONEER BURIED HERE LAST FRIDAY SPANNED WHITE MAN'S TENURE OF HARTFORD
"Henry C. Olds Was Born in 1845, When Hartford Was a Virgin Forest
"When the body of Henry C. Olds, 89, was carried to a grave in Pioneer cemetery last Friday afternoon, the last survivor of ten children in one of the first white families in Hartford township was laid to rest.
"Born 90 years ago on May 19 next at the pioneer home that his parents, Orson and Renew Olds had carved from the wilderness on section 29, in the southwest part of this township and later known as the Sylvester McNitt farm, the passing of Mr. Olds and his burial at Hartford's first cemetery where his parents and other pioneer kinfolk lie buried marks the closing of a life that had spanned practically the entire history of the white man's occupancy of Hartford township.
"Death Followed Injury
"In near perfect health until Sunday, February 24, when he fell in the yard at the farm home in southeast Keeler where he resided with his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Cox, Mr. Olds died last Wednesday at the Dowagiac sanitarium.
"The aged man sustained a fracture of his leg near the hip. Mr. and Mrs. Cox had driven away and were absent less than two hours. Returning they found him lying in the yard in a puddle of slush and water, where he had been more than an hour. He was rushed to the hospital, but the injury and exposure proved fatal.
"The body was brought to Hartford and funeral rites were held Friday afternoon at the Zuver & Calvin funeral home.
"Kin of First White Family
"It was in 1845 that Mr. Olds was born in southwest Hartford. That was only nine years after the first white family came into the township and built the first log cabin.
"Strangely enough Mr. Olds was a nephew of that first white settler, Ferdino Olds, who with his wife and their daughter Julia came from Cayuga county, New York, in 1836 and also settled in section 19. The daughter Julia became the wife of Ansel E. Reynolds, a pioneer Hartford merchant. Mrs. and Mrs. Reynolds were the parents of Mrs. Roy Hinckley of the Hartford House.
"Shortly after 1836 three brothers of Ferdino Olds, Hezekiah, John and Orson, came from New York and settled in southwest Hartford. Orson, whose last surviving child was the man buried here last Friday settled in the southwest quarter of section 19, then an unbroken forest but now a highly developed farming area.
"These first Olds families played an important part in the development of Hartford. The ten children of Orson Olds, of which Henry C., was the last, are well remembered by older residents. They were Ransom, Vanrensalaer, Edwin R., Almond, Allen, Marcius, William (who died in youth), Mrs. James E. Manley16 and Mrs. Rhoda Cook.
"Spent Early Life Here
'In 1868 Mr. Olds was married to Miss Mary Watkins in Hartford. She died in 1877 and it was beside her grave that he was buried Friday. Mr. Olds remained here, engaged as a carpenter and in farming in Hartford and Keeler, until 1892 when he moved to DeKalb, Ill. There in 1892 he was married to Mrs. Janet Platt who died in 1929.
"Three years ago he returned to Hartford to take up his residence with his only daughter, Mrs. Cox of Keeler. Three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and two stepsons survive him.
"Of his brothers who played an important part in Hartford's development, Edwin R. built the first hotel, the brick structure on West Main street now known as the Hartford House. He was also an extensive buyer of grain and livestock in the earlier days.
"Allen Olds, also a brother and father of our townsman, V. W. Olds, for years operated the town's only planing mill and built a number of the buildings now standing in the village. He was a Civil War veteran and active in community affairs. Vanrensalaer was a farmer, residing for years on the present Herbert Koepke place east of town. Others, except Mrs. Jane E. Manley, took up their residences elsewhere.
"The deceased, also a carpenter, did the carpenter work on the old C. H. Engle opera house, now the Brown block, and was identified with the building of other business blocks still standing on Hartford's Main street.
