Benjamin Bowers Bunn was born on 25 Apr 1895 at farm home, Bonpas Township, Richland County, Illinois.2 He was the son of William Benton Bunn Sr. and Fannie Bowers.1 Benjamin Bowers Bunn married Dorothy Helen Harmon on 2 Dec 1920 at Olney, Richland County, Illinois.2 Benjamin Bowers Bunn died on 24 May 1965 at Urbana, Illinois, at age 70.3 He was buried at East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana, Illinois.3
"Benjamin Bowers Bunn enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served in World War I. Soon after the close of the war he was honorably discharged. Then he returned to Richland County, Illinois, and farmed for a few years."1 He registered with the World War I Selective Service System on 5 Jun 1917 at Bonpas Township, Richland County, Illinois. He described himself as living Route 4, Olney, Illinois, age 22, born 25 Apr 1895 in Bonpas Township, and his occupation was farming for himself in Bonpas Township. He was medium in height, medium in build, with blue eyes and had dark hair. He was single and had no dependents.4
"Following this relatively short period spent on the farm he disposed of his farming interests and moved to Urbana, Illinois. For many years he worked as a carpenter and later as a carpenter foreman for prominent building contractors operating on the campus of the University of Illinois [in] the cities of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, and at the Chanute Air Force Base near Rantoul, Illinois.
"However, after his son, Kenneth Max, returned at the close of World War II from the U. S. Navy, he and his son formed a building contracting partnership. During the several years that have elapsed since this partnership was organized, Benjamin and his son, Max, have built scores of beautiful residences in and about the cities of Champaign-Urbana."1
"Benjamin B., commonly known as Ben, always rides a hobby. On the farm, it was registered Duroc hogs. However, for many years his chief hobby has been the production of choise [sic] gladiolas on a commercial scale. He originated numerous named varieties. Several of these are presently produced commercially. For many years Ben has exhibited his gladiolas at the larger gladiola shows including the Illinois State Fair. He is consistent winner at the shows.
"His latest hobby, or perhaps an additional hobby, is that of developing high class Pointers (bird dogs). If you want to learn about hunting dog experiences, ask Ben."1
