Her obituary states: Delphos Republican, April 19, 1918
"Last Sunday morning the community was greatly saddened when it was learned that the spirit of little Mary Frances Olds had taken its flight to the land beyond. She had been sick only a few days with scarlet fever, but despite all that loving hands and medical skill could do, passed away Saturday night a little before midnight. Little Frances was five years old last January; a very bright and lovable child, kind and sweet in disposition. Her little body was laid to rest in the Delphos Cemetery, but -
"Safe in the Shepherd's bosom
White as the drifted snow,
Is the little lamb we missed one morn
From the household flock below."
"Hearts filled with tenderest sympathy will go our to the members of the bereaved family in their hours of great sorrow.
"There is no death, what seems so is transition;
This life of mortal breath is but a suburb of the life Elysian,
Whose portals we call death."2
