Robert Shepard married Agnes (?).4 Robert Shepard was born s 1505.1 He was the son of Edmund Shepard and Agnes (?).2,3 Robert Shepard died bt Mar 1560 - 3 Feb 1560 probably in Redgrave Parish, Suffolk County, England.5
Robert was named in the wills of both his parents.6 He left a will on 24 Jan 1559 at Redgrave Parish, Suffolk County, England. He requested burial in the churchyard at Redgrave. He named his wife, Agnes, and his children Edmonde, Thomas, Robart, Anne, Catherine, daughter "Olyffe", Elyzabeth, Margaret, and Rose. The daughters were to be paid their money at the day of their marriages. Giving an unused potential clue, he mentioned that, by the will of George Bettes, he was bound to bring up the children of Bettes and so now passed on to his wife Annes this responsibility and the items and income he had received for doing so. An undated codicil mentioned a son Henry, not yet 16. The executors were "Thomas my son and Agnes my wife". This will was probated 3 Feb 1560 (Archdeaconry of Sudbury, Paynter 161).7
"Even though Robert had fifteen children, the mother of all of them was likely the wife Agnes he named in his will. His son Thomas seems to have been the oldest living son at the time the will was written, and Robert requested that Thomas let "his mother" be in charge of the land for three years. Thomas was born before 16 Feb 1539[/40], when he was named in his grandmother's will." The birth order of the children is uncertain. "(it is not impossible for a woman who married at, say, 18, to have had children over the next 29 years, but it may be that the births of the first five children covered fewer years than here suggested, or that there may have been twins".8
