Survivors include his father of Rock Falls; a son, Scott Stanfield of Hopkinsville, KY; a daughter, Angela (Tim) White of Hopkinsville, KY; two brothers, Charles (Cheryl) Stanfield of Rock Falls and Roger (Carol) Stanfield of Morrison; [two sisters] Barbara Kay (Jack) Ludwig of Sterling, and Anita (Gary) Campbell of Rock Falls; and a granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his mother, and grandparents.

     Hester Staninger was born on 14 Mar 1841 at Lancaster, Wabash County, Illinois.1 She married Asa Higgins on 23 Sep 1858.2 Hester Staninger died on 11 Nov 1932 at age 911 and was buried on 13 Nov 1932 at Moravian Cemetery, West Salem, Edwards County, Illinois.1,3
     Her obituary states:
     November 17, 1932 Hester Staninger, daughter of Paul and Katherine Staninger, was born near Lancaster, Wabash county, IL, March 25, 1841, where she grew to womanhood. September 23, 1858, she married Asa Higgins and nine children were born, five sons and four daughters. Thos[e] who survive are: Mrs. Abigal Jones, Sumner, Mrs. Jan Meisenheimer, West Salem, George Higgins, Olney, Asa Higgens[sic] and Ernest Higgins, both of Wabash County, Mrs. Julia Dolahan, Mahomet, IL. Grant and Daniel and Mrs. Kate Cunningham preceded her in death. Her husband died November 4, 1914. Mrs. Staninger was the eldest of eleven children. The only two surviving are: Ezra of Chicago, and Henry of West Salem. She spent her early [does entire make more sense here?] life on a farm in Wabash county until she died at the home of her son Earnest Higgins November 11, 1932, she was 91y7m17d. She was a member of the Evangelical church of West Salem. [This is a typed abstract. I do not have a copy of the obituary.]4

"Ralph D. Staninger was born in Southern Illinois in 1881. He went to Atwood in 1899, living there until he move to Maroa in 1916. He owned and conducted a grocery store in Maroa for several years, leaving there in 1925 for California, where he made his home until his death.
"He is survived by his wife and four children, Ralph, William, Weda and Virginia, all at home, and one brother, R. M. Staninger, of Decatur.
"Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in San Diego."3

An article appearing in the Decatur Weekly News for 21 April 1938, contains a legal notice from the Millikin Trust Company, trustee of the Last Will of Robert M. Staninger, deceased, to the defendants in the case of a "Bill to Construe Will No. 37152". The named defendants were Mark Staninger, Marie D. Weaver, Betty Lee Weaver, Nettie May Staninger, Mary I. Goodson, Vera Goodson Taecker, William Staninger, Ralph Staninger, Maxine Staninger Lepore, Virginia Staninger, Verneta Gentz and Cloyd Gentz. They were notified to appear in court on 16 May 1938.
Robert died without surviving children but this will abstract provides a check on the completeness of my list of his family.
His deceased sister, Bessie Ann Gentz, had only the two children, Vernita Gentz and Cloyd Gentz..
His deceased brother, Ralph D., left a widow, Nettie May, and was the father of only William, Ralph M., Maxine Weta (now LaPore), and Virginia.
His only surviving sister, Mary I. Goodson, had one daughter, Vera.
Mark Staninger was a half-brother of Robert M.
Marie D. Weaver and Betty Lee Weaver may not have been relatives but are members of the family with whom Robert was living in 1930.8

     "Rites Held Saturday for Mason Resident.
"Mrs. Cora B. Oolds [sic], 69, died early Thursday evening at her home on Center street. Funeral services will be held at the Jewett Funeral home Saturday afternoon, at two o'clock, with burial at Leslie. The Rev. D. L. Huntwork of the Mason Baptist Church will officiate.
"Mrs. Olds was born March 10, 1871, at Bedford, Michigan. Surviving are the husband, Jesse; seven children, Mrs. George [sic - Georgia] Mohr of Onondaga, Mrs. Eva Kepler[sic] of Onstead, Mrs. Dora Barnes of Lansing, Harry Olds, whose address is unknown, Mrs. Fannie Collins[sic] of Eaton Rapids, Bert Olds of Jackson and Mrs. L. Z. Olds of Battle Creek; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren."8
