"The condition of three year old Dorothy Olds, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Olds, 210 East 13th street, who was struck by an automobile Sunday is still unmproved [sic]. The child, who was taken to the city hospital immediately after the accident, has never regained consciousness. A change is expected tonight. The little girl who had been sitting on a curb in front of her house darted suddenly into the street in the path of an automobile. The driver, a woman, was unable to stop in time to save her."5
However, Dorothy did survive that childhood accident as confirmed in recent correspondence with her granddaughter, Dawnielle J. Dobbins.
"I would be delighted to ask my mother questions about her [Dorothy's] husbands because I honestly don't know all of their names. Her birthday was 10/10/62[sic]6 and her death was 05/05/00. I was there when she passed. She had 8 living children. She gave up (adopted out) a set of twins. ... One of her children has passed after her."2

"DWIGHT A. OLDS
"Any law faculty that does not have a Dwight Olds should get one. Contacts with the qualities of mind, personality and character which he so uniquely possesses constitute a treasured phase of his law students total experience. It has one of the characteristics common to greatness: increasing value and appreciation with the passage of time.
"The sustaining source of all the good things Dwight does is his deep, sacrificial love for teaching. In the prime of a successful legal career for a major oil company, he did some part-time law teaching from which the conviction grew that teaching should have his full time and his total energies. He was not deterred from pursuing that conviction by the problems and sacrifices involved in doing a year of graduate work at Michigan while discharging the responsibilities of husband and father. This he did in order to better prepare himself for his future job though it would pay him only about fifty percent of what he had formerly earned. Association with him through his teaching years has disclosed the doing by him of innumerable things that could proceed only from a love for teaching so demanding and so deeply felt.
"A natural outcome of his love for teaching is his single-minded dedication to it. There has been no time for consulting work or for any collateral activity. He has comidered it to be his duty to learn everything
his time and energies would permit about the subject matter areas in which he taught and to plan the technique and means for making effective classroom use of that knowledge. To that end, he has developed the most thorough and comprehensive systems I have ever observed for becoming aware of and seeing the materials significant in his fields. Perhaps no teacher goes into a classroom better prepared than he.
"Closely related are his strengths of character that have come from demanding self-discipline. Dwight has never asked of his students that which he has not first done. The requirement that his students make a regular, orderly, and thorough contribution to their own educational process has been preceded by the requirement of himself that his contribution be even greater. If nowhere else, students learn here the demands of the perfectionist
"Professor Olds has made time for one other professional activity-that of writing extensively. He has contributed more than any other person to the high quality of writing that has characterized this Review from its beginning."12

"DWIGHT A.
