Steward on 26 Sep 1861 at Yamhill County, Oregon.1,7,8 Elzina Olds died on 8 Aug 1925 at McMinnville, Oregon, at age 83.2,5 She was buried at Masonic Cemetery, McMinnville, Yamhill County, Oregon.9
In 1905, she was described as the widow of James L. Steward and living at McMinnville, Oregon.1
"So far as the writer has been able to ascertain there were no children by either marriage. Her obituary notice refers to a brother, D. J. Olds, of Oakland, Cal., as being the only immediate survivor."10
Her obituary states:
"YAMHILL PIONEER DIES
"Mrs. Elzina Stewart Succumbs to Prolonged Illness.
"McMinnville, Or., -- Aug. 8. -- (Special.) -- Mrs. Elzina Stewart, 83, a pioneer who crossed the plains by ox team in 1844 and for 81 years has been a continuous resident of Yamhill county, died here early today after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church here tomorrow afternoon, and interment will be made in the McMinnville Masonic cemetery.
"Mrs. Stewart, whose maiden name was Olds, was born in Tippecanoe, Ind., July 17, 1842. Her parents took the Olds donation land claim between Yamhill and Carlton. In 1898, Mrs. Stewart moved to McMinnvile from her farm near Carlton. While in this city she became conspicuous by her help to needy students at Linfield college. Mrs. Stewart was twice married, her first husband, William Hess, dying in 1858. Mr. Olds [sic -- Steward] died in 1897. One brother, D. J. Olds of Oakland, Cal., is the only immediate survivor."5
