Among the antique items on display at the fall meeting of the Firelands Historical Society at Birmingham, Ohio, September 26, 1888, were a teapot and decanter, being part of the wedding outfit of Davis Olds and Olive Mott in 1829.3 He "lived near Birmingham, Ohio".5

Dewitt Clinton Olds was born on 17 Feb 1817 at Vermont.2,3,4,5 He was the son of Alexander Olds and Lovicy Prouty.1 Dewitt Clinton Olds married Abigail Snell on 1 Apr 1844 at Livingston County, Michigan.6,7,8 Dewitt Clinton Olds died on 11 Oct 1889 at Leslie, Ingham County, Michigan, at age 72.9 He was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Leslie, Ingham County, Michigan.10
"Dewitt C. Olds was one of the first settlers of Ingham county, Michigan, to which place he came in 1837, and was a farmer by vocation. Both parents died while their children were young [What parents ?-- this does not seem to apply to D. C. and Abigail nor to his parents-- DWO]."2
