A biographical sketch of James H. Olds provides additional information:
"JAMES H. OLDS. October 18, 1902, there was celebrated in Lafayette the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Olds, who are among the most honored and well known of the pioneers of '52. An element of more than usual romance is connected with this couple, whose association has been characterized by that fine sympathy and helpfulness engendered by necessary concessions and companionship in the very hard days of pioneer Oregon. As cousins13 Mr. and Mrs. Olds were married while crossing the plains near Fort Boise, Idaho, the ceremony being performed by Rev. Mr. Reasoner, a Methodist Episcopal clergyman, the principal witnesses being Wilson Cook and Mrs. N. A. Jacobs. At the golden wedding were present ninety relatives, a showing rarely found on occasions of this kind. The many beautiful gifts, the enthusiastic good wishes of many friends, and the general air of rejoicing, but slightly indicated the esteem in which are held these high minded and very prosperous early settlers.
"The career of Mr. Olds should furnish encouragement to all desirous of rearing a structure solely upon their own merit. He was born near Sandusky, Seneca county, Ohio, May 29, 1830, and on both sides of his family cherishes a just pride of ancestry. His father, Martin, was born [here follows some history of Martin Olds and his family].
"James H. Olds engaged in independent farming in Washington county in 1853, but afterward disposed of this property to his father, and settled on the old homestead on the Chiehalem. In 1868 he removed to Lafayette to educate his children, and in 1872 engaged in the warehouse business in St. Joseph. He also became interested in managing a hotel, and for seven years experienced considerable success in this venture. In 1880 Mr. Olds built his present residence in Lafayette, and has since made this his headquarters. The year 1882 found him in the hotel business, from which he retired October 1, 1902. Mr. Olds lived in Clackamas county between 1892-95. Like his father, he has been active in promoting the interests of the Republican party, and has almost continuously served as a member of the school board, a part of the time as clerk. From 1866 until 1870 he served as deputy sheriff, and was justice of the peace for fourteen years, and bailiff of the circuit court for twelve years. As road supervisor he has materially impressed upon the community the necessity for good thoroughfares.
"In 1852 Mr. Olds married Nancy A. Parker, from which union there were born three sons and three daughters, the order of their birth being as follows : Mrs. Elberta E. Gates, deceased ; D. V., a resident of Lafayette; E. M., also living in Lafayette ; Mrs. Della Klosterman, of the vicinity of Lafayette ; Mrs. Kate Ferguson, of Lafayette, and P. P., who also resides here. Mr. Olds possesses personal characteristics in keeping with the opportunities of this great commonwealth, and has left his sterling worth impressed upon many departments of its activity. In religion he is a Materialist, but never antagonizes his neighbor with his belief. A man of limited education, he is nevertheless exceptionally well read."14
Another story of the golden wedding couple provices additional information:
"Wedded While Crossing the Plains
"Fifty-Two Years Ago Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Olds, of McMinnvile, Were Married
"A golden wedding at which the bridesmaid and groomsman are present is decidedly unusual, and one at which the guests of the original are present is still more so. This happened at the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Olds, of La Fayette, however, uncle and aunt of J. C. and W. P. Olds of this city. It has been two years since the celebration of the golden wedding, but it was only recently that the picture was obtained of the couple who have gone through so many years of life together, and their 12 friends who witnessed their marriage on the plains in 1853[sic], for this weddng took place in a pioneer train en route to Oregon.
"Mr. J. H. Olds was born in Seneca County, Ohio, in 1830, and his wife was born in the same county and state in 1833. Both families moved to Michigan, and on the death of Mrs. Olds' father, who was accidentally shot by a hunter, she returned to her native state, where she received her education and became a school teacher. Mr. Olds remained on his father's farm in Michigan until March, 1851, when he started across the plains with his brother[sic], Mr. G. W. Olds (now of McMinnville), and 22 others. They made the trip with only one incident to mar its success, and that was the accidental shooting of Milton White. Game of all sort was plentiful, and the travelers were bountifully supplied all the way across. They arrived in Yamhill County September 16, 1851. January 4 following, J. H. Olds returned to Michigan by way of the Isthmus. Reaching New York he was shaved for the first time in his life by a barber and bought the first suit of clothing he ever owned which had not been spun, woven and made by his mother. By March 10 he had arrived at his old home in Michigan, and by the 25th of that month was ready to start to Oregon again with a large train of immigrants. All of his father's family, with the exception of one son, came, and hundreds of others joined on his recommendation. In the large party was Miss Nancy Ann Parker, from Ohio, who is now Mrs. J. H. Olds
"After the last outfitting was completed and the train started on its long journey across the vast plains, a meeting was held -- the second day out -- and J. H. Olds unanimously elected captain of the "Olds Train." He was much younger than many present and was modest about assuming such a responsibility, but they forced him to do so, and he carried them through safely and well. There were 90 wagons and 400 people in the train, but the strict rules laid down by the newly-elected captain were closely observed and alll went well. George Olds (father of J. C. and W. P. Olds, of this city), was appointed foreman of the guard, and throughout the long journey, or until after the Malheur River was crossed, a guard of eight was maintained for the stock and a like guard for the party, the nights being divided into two watches. ...
[This article continues at length with a description of the crossing to Oregon. Bela E. Gowen later produced a more compete and detailed version of the whole story entitled "The Olds Emigrant Party of 1852". Then the newspaper article continues as follows.]
"... it soon began to be whispered around that there might be a wedding. When in camp near Boise City, on the 13th of the month, it was positively announced, so the boys made a huge bonfire of sagebrush, visitors from neighboring camps came in, and all was put in readiness for the nuptials of J. H. Olds and Miss Nancy Ann Parker. They came out of their tent at the appointed hour, attended by Mr. Wilson Cook and Miss Nancy A. Olds, and standing in front of the bright sagebrush fire which furnished the illumination, and under a canopy of stars for a marriage bell, were united in marriage by Rev. Mr. Reasoner, a Methodist divine. The young folks of the camp had a good deal of fun that night with the newly married couple, pulling their wagon out and taking it off some distance from the train.
"The presence of a bride and groom seemed to bring the best of luck to the train, for they arrived in Oregon without any further mishap of any kind, and have lived here ever since. Mr. Olds says of the event:
"'How faithfully we have kept the vows made that evening is best known by those who have lived among us. We have had six children born to us, three boys and three girls, all well known in old Yamhill. We are now old people, and so are all in the picture. They all came from the town of Batavia, Branch County, Mich. I can look back 50 years and see Oregon as it was then and as it is now, and can say that the change is greater than one could expect. At that time Eastern Oregon was a vast, sagebrush plain, but it is now a part of an inland empire. Where Portland now stands was a vast forest, and he who lives the next 50 years will see one solid city from Vancouver to Oregon City, and Oregon will be one of the first states in the Union."
This article is accompanied by a photo captioned with the names of those at the wedding: E. P. Wallace, J. W. Cook, Miss V. M. Olds, Mrs. E. P. Wallace, J. H. Olds, D. G. Olds, Mrs. J. H. Olds, Mrs. J. W. Cook, Mrs. Ann Derby, Mrs. A. C. Richardson, Mrs. H. A. Jacobs, and D. G. Parker.15

I have not successfully researched this. Both may have some connection to Benjamin Parker, killed in Branch County, Michigan, in 1844 and perhaps to an earlier Green Parker.

James W. Olds was born c 1815 at Ohio.1 He married Mrs. Lovisa B. Swarthout on 23 Sep 1866 at Whiteside County, Illinois.2 James W. Olds died on 16 Aug 1886.3 He was buried at Lyndon Cemetery, Lyndon, Whiteside County, Illinois.4
James W. Olds appeared on the census of 1840 at Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana, as follows:
     James W. Olds, 1 male 20-30 , 1 female under 5 , 1 female 20-30.5
James W. Olds appeared on the census of 14 Jul 1860 at Salem, Henry County, Iowa, as follows:
     1883/1643 J. W. Oles, 47, merchant, b. Ohio
      Survina, 46, b. U. S.
      Belinda, 16, b. Iowa
      Jane L[?], 15, b. Ill.
      Martha P., 12, b. Ill.
      David, 11, b. Ill.
      Geo. B., 6, b. Ill.
      Greely H., 4, b. Iowa.1
James W. Olds appeared on the census of 2 Aug 1870 at Lyndon, Whiteside County, Illinois, as follows:
     10/10 Olds, James W., 54, farmer, b. Ohio
      , Lovicia, 51, Keep house, b. Mass.
      , George, 16, at home, b. Ill.
      , Greely, 13, b. Ill.
      , Willie, 9, b. Ill.
      , Lovicia, 18, b. Ill.6
James W. Olds appeared on the census of 9 Jun 1880 at Lyndon Township, Whiteside County, Illinois, as follows:
     43/45 Olds, James W., 65, farmer, b. OH, father b. N.Y., mother b. Pa.
, Lovisa B., 61, wife, keeping house, nervous debility, b. Mass., parents b. Mass.
, H. Wilson, 18, son, b. Iowa, father b. Ohio, mother b. Vt.7 He left a will on 16 Jul 1886 at Lyndon, Whiteside County, Illinois. He was "I James W. Olds of the town of Lyndon in the County of Whiteside and State of Illinois". He bequeathed a life interest in two lots in the Village of Lyndon to "my wife Lovice B. Olds"; to "my son Aaron W. Olds" he gave these lots after his wife's death and well as several others in Lyndon; to "my daughter Cynthe M. Jones" one dollar; to my daughter Belinda F. Winters" one dollar; "to my daughter Lucy J. Paschal" one dollar; to the "heirs of my daughter Martha P. Labaugh" one dollar; "to my son David T. Olds" one dollar; to my son George B. Olds" one dollar; "to my son Greely F. Olds" one dollar; "my son Aaron W. Olds all of my personal property after paying all of my debts." He nominated Silas P. Austin as his executor and signed as James W. Olds on 16 July 1886. The will was admitted for porbate on 27 Aug 1886. Another copy of this same will is recorded next in the book, this time giving the testator's name as James R. Olds.8
I have not yet located enough information to reliably meld these pieces together together as one family. James was married in Randolph County, Indiana in 1837 and by 1840 had begun a family there and apparently had one daughter.
I have not located him in 1850 but perhaps have the family in Iowa in 1856. Does the name Lavina now appear as Servina (maybe Lervina)? Billina/Belinda would not be the daughter of 1840 and the other children were born after moving to Illinois except the infant Greely H., born in Iowa where they had now lived for two years. Why is Marth P. listed out of order?
In 1860, the children Belinda, Jane, Martha, George and Greely (with reasonabe variations of names and ages) re-appear but David, age 11 in 1860, is harderto reconcile with Daniel Thomas, age 11, in 1856..
By 1870, James was back in Illinois with a new wife (as explained by the Illinois marriage record of 1866). George, 16, and Greely, 13, are explained by previous census records and the older children have left the family in some way. But is it not strange to have an 18 year old now listed who has the same name as his second wife?
1880 is the last census in which the family would appear and son H.Wilson Olds, age 18, is still at home with the indication that his mother was born in Vermont, which we were told in 1856 and 1860 had been the birthplace of Servina.

The agricultural part of this census showed that on 1 March 1905, J. W. Olds was living on 720 acres of land of which 100 acres was fenced with wire. The land was worth $8000 and the buildings $100. He had 100 acres in corn and had cut 30 tons of prairie hay in 1904. In the year ending March 1, 1905 he had fattened and sold or slaughtered $50 worth of animals. He had two horses and no mules or "milch" cattle and seven other cattle and 1 swine. He had lost no animals to disease or wolves. He had one dog.9

"Mrs. Jane E. Manley died at three o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of her daugbter, Mrs. A. P. Shaw, at the age of 82 years, her death being due to the infirmities of age. Mrs. Manley was one of the oldest residents of Hartford. She was born in New York, but came to Michigan when ten years of age. At the age 21 she was married to George Manley, and they settled upon what is now known as the John Hines farm south of Hartford. Mr. Manley died ten years later, and Mrs. Manley completed the converting of the homestead into one of the most fertile farms in this section. Mrs. Manley had been a resident of Hartford township for over 70 years. She was the mother of five children, three of whom survive her, Volney E. and Oscar Manley and Mrs. A. P. Shaw all of Hartford. Funeral services for her will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Christian church. Mrs. Manley was the oldest member of this church, and was especially faithful and zealous in its interest."11

[Falwage is an unusual but not unheard of name (per a Google search). More likely this is Jane Talmage (after a grandmother) Olds, also found by Google, and I will so identify her.].
