     His obituary states:
"Sylvester Olds, aged 71, was killed at Tuttle Bend bridge, near Russell depot, by Conductor Adams' train on Thursday morning. The accident occurred at one of the sharpest curves on the Western railroad, and where a person on the track cannot be seen far enough from ahead to check the speed of the train. When Mr. Olds was first discovered he was attempting to step to the side of the bridge, but the engine struck him, breaking both legs, and threw him into the river below. He was immediately taken out, but life was extinct. His family reside in Chicopee. No blame attaches to the employes [sic] on the train."11
Another obituary for Sylvester states: "Sylvester Olds, residing with a nephew at Montgomery, Mass., was accidentally killed on the Western Railroad, at Russell, Thursday morning. He was walking on the track at the time."12
