"Richard Warren otherwysse called Waller, of bassingbourne, county Cambridge" made his will on 28 March 1557 and it was probated on 2 May 1557 in the Archdeaconry of Ely. He had several pieces of land, some animals, various personal items and some money to distribute. The will names son Richard, son Nicholas, son Henry, daughter Alice, wife Alice, Augerye Warren the daughter of his son Henry, and William the son of his son William.1
Hyde may have arrived at reasonable birth dates for the children something like this: Several of the children were already parents by 1557. If they all were, then the youngest was born by about 1537. Spreading the six children at two year intervals then yields the dates 1527-1537. Follow the order named in the will for Richard, Nicholas and Henry. Helen and William are not named but later evidence gives Helen (Ellen) a child by an estimated 1550. I don't know what added William last.

He was for a time a planter at Merry Meeting Bay in Maine.3
"In 1669, Thomas Gyles purchased a tract of land, loosely described as being two miles long and one mile wide, on Merry-Meeting Bay, within the present township of Topsham. ... The land came into his posession by a deed from Thomas Watkins and his wife Margaret, dated May 8, 1669. The grantor calls himself 'Thomas Watkings, planter, now liviing at the westerly side of Caneback river.' He had not lived there long. Thomas Watkins of Sagadahock was one of the men, who, at the summons of the Royal Commissioners, took the oath of allegiance under the patent to the Duke of York in September, 1665. Of course he was then living on the easterly side of the Kennebec, and probably within the present limits of Woolwich. He was of Boston, August 19, 1661, when he received from 'John, an Indian Sagamore, of a place called by the English High Head, being on the westerly side of the place called Merry-Meeting Bay,' a deed of the land which he sold in 1669 to Thomas Gyles. [Suff. Deeds, 3 : 495.] He may also have taken a deed from the assignees of the Plymouth Patent."4

"Thomas, Margaret and Mary were the children of Thomas Watkins, a planter at Merrymeeting Bay, by his wife Margaret, who, on his death about 1673, married Thomas Stevens. We glean this relationship from the following taken from the book of Eastern Land Claims in the Mass. Archives: --
