Moses Olds was baptized on 18 Sep 1784 at St. Luke's Church, Lanesborough, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.1 He married (2) Elizabeth Thomas on 7 Jan 1819 at Gallatin County, Kentucky.2,3 Moses Olds was buried at Carrollton I O O F Cemetery, Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky.4
A Moses and a Rebecca Olds are listed separately in the 1820 census of Genesee County, New York. However, other records show a Moses getting married in Kentucky in 1819 and he is possibly the one listed in the 1820 census of Henry County, Kentucky. If so, the New York records may not apply to him.

1820 census, Gainsville, Genessee County, New York
"Rebiecha" Olds, 1 f. under 10, 1 f. 26-44.5
Moses Olds appeared on the census of 1820 at New Castle, Henry County, Kentucky, as follows:
1 m. under 10 [Hiram C.], 1 m. 26 - 44 [Moses was 36], 1 f. 10-15 [child or child bride?], 3 slaves.6
Moses Olds appeared on the census of 1830 at Port William, Gallatin County, Kentucky, as follows:
1 m. 10-14, 1 m. 30-39, 1 m. 40-49, 1 f. under 5, 2 f. 5-9, 1 f 20-29, 1 f. 30-39, 11 slaves.7
Moses Olds left a will on 23 May 1836 at Carroll County, Kentucky. He named his wife Elizabeth, formerly Elizabeth Thomas, his son Hiram Curtis Olds, his sister Mariam, his daughters Olive, Arville and Harris Olds and his brother David.2
In the Dec 1847 term of the Ohio Supreme Court, a case was reviewed that had originated in Seneca county, Ohio. Among the facts from the original case are: "A man by the name of Moses Olds, many years since, resided in the State of New York, and while there intermarried with Rebecca (afterwards Rebecca Carpenter), by whom he had two children, Arvilla and Horace. He abandoned his wife and settled in Kentucky, where he accumulated a large property. In Kentucky he intermarried with Elizabeth Thomas, by whom he had several children. Some years after Moses Olds absconded, his wife Rebecca intermarried with Caleb Carpenter. Arvilla Olds subsequently intermarried with Jeremiah Carpenter. In October, 1838, Moses Olds died, leaving four children by his Kentucky wife, two of whom, Hiram Curtis and Sophronia, being infants, died shortly after their father. Moses Olds attempted to dispose of his estate by will, giving one-half to his wife Elizabeth for life, but she died before the testator. Under these circumstances, questions were raised as to the validity of the will, and whether the share devised to Elizabeth descended to the heirs, she having died before the testator. By his will Moses left to his daughter, Arvilla Carpenter, a legacy of $100, which was received by her in 1839 or 1840.
In 1844 Jeremiah Carpenter consulted with the defendant, Sea, who is a lawyer upon this business. Sea, in consequence of this consultation, wrote to Kentucky and procured a copy of the will, and afterward enterd into an arrangement with Carpenter and his wife, by which he undertook to go to Kentucky, and recover the rights of Arvilla and her mother Rebecca, in the estate and property of Moses Olds and Horace Olds, the brother of Arvilla -- the said Rebecca claiming a dower interest in said estate, and Arvilla claiming as an heir." Reference is later made to "the several estates of Mary B. Olds, Hiram Curtis Olds, and Sophronia Olds, deceased" but Mary B. Olds is not identified. The appeal dealt with whether the attorney, Sidney Sea, had defrauded his clients and not with the genealogy or legaliity of the inheritence.8

Moses Olds
M, (s 1755 - )

Moses Olds was born s 1755. He married Keziah Shaw on 30 Oct 1780 at Brookfield, Massachusetts.1,2
This particular Moses Olds does not appear in the E. B. Olds Genealogy but I would like to start to build a family around him. In the process, I may be introducing a lot of false assumptions which, I hope, can be weeded out with later facts.
A Moses Olds married Kezia Shaw in Brookfield, Massachusetts, on 30 Oct 1780.1 A Moses Olds married Keziah Barnes in Brookfield on 25 Sep 1780.3 Both marriages are indexed in the latter reference. The manuscript page for the Barnes marriage is only partially legible but the record I find there seems to say: "Moses Old and Keziah Shaw both of Brookfield Sepber 25 1780". This earlier entry seems to be in the list of entries for the purpose of marriage (banns).
Moses Olds, Keziah Shaw and Keziah Barnes are not listed among the Brookfield births nor is Moses Olds listed as the parent of any children there. Furthermore, neither Moses nor Keziah are among the deaths listed there.4
A Moses and Keziah Olds are soon found in New Hampshire as shown by the births of their children.
Moses Olds appeared on the census of 1790 at Winchester, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, as follows: 1 male over 16, 2 males under 16, 4 females.5
