David was a minister in the German Baptist Brethren Church and lived in Ohio. He had seven children -- Jacob, John W., Catharine, Elizabeth, Sarah, Abraham, and David.2 The cover of the Spring 1972 issue of "The Studebaker Family" shows the Ohio homes of some of the children of Jacob and Mary (Snider) Studebaker including: David Studebaker (1780 - 1826) and Mary Ulrey (1783 - 1861); John Studebaker (1787 - 1833) and Hannah Ulrey (1789 - 1862). Ten children and their spouses are listed in the Studebaker book.1

Shirley Styles Phillips
Shirley Styles Phillips, 75, of 389 Orchard Road, Bakersville, North Carolina passed away October 23, 2011 at home after a long illness. She was a native of Yancey County and the daughter of the late Theodore and Zona Harris Styles. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Scott Phillips.
Survivors include her husband Bobby E. Phillips of the home, and her beloved daughter Janet Kenniasty of Columbia, Maryland as well as three sisters, Teddie Styles Hall of Statesville, North Carolina, Erma Styles of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Doris Styles Laughrun of Midlothian, Virginia.
She was valedictorian of her Burnsville High School class, a graduate of Mars Hill College, Meredith College and received a graduate degree from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. She spent 21 years as a teacher in the post secondary schools of Osceola County, Florida.
She and her husband, Bobby, were married in Burnsville June 9, 1956.
She enjoyed active membership in First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine, the Blue Ridge Red Hats, the Mitchell County Extension Homemakers, and the Mayland Writers Club. She loved painting, writing short stories, and singing.
To remember Shirley, a gift to Hospice Of Mitchell County in Spruce Pine is suggested.

Shirley Styles Phillips, 75, of 389 Orchard Road, Bakersville, North Carolina passed away October 23, 2011 at home after a long illness. She was a native of Yancey County and the daughter of the late Theodore and Zona Harris Styles. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Scott Phillips.
Survivors include her husband Bobby E. Phillips of the home, and her beloved daughter Janet Kenniasty of Columbia, Maryland as well as three sisters, Teddie Styles Hall of Statesville, North Carolina, Erma Styles of Lynchburg, Virginia, and Doris Styles Laughrun of Midlothian, Virginia.
She was valedictorian of her Burnsville High School class, a graduate of Mars Hill College, Meredith College and received a graduate degree from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. She spent 21 years as a teacher in the post secondary schools of Osceola County, Florida.
She and her husband, Bobby, were married in Burnsville June 9, 1956.
She enjoyed active membership in First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine, the Blue Ridge Red Hats, the Mitchell County Extension Homemakers, and the Mayland Writers Club. She loved painting, writing short stories, and singing.
To remember Shirley, a gift to Hospice Of Mitchell County in Spruce Pine is suggested.

Floyd Lee Summerfield was born on 2 Aug 1913 at Richland County, Illinois.1,2 He was the son of Lee A. Summerfield and Florence Gertrude "Trude" Findley.1 Floyd Lee Summerfield married Vera Viola Knackmuhs on 11 Aug 1934 at the home of her parents, near West Salem, Illinois.1,3 Floyd Lee Summerfield died on 31 Oct 1985 at age 72.4
Floyd was a graduate of West Salem High School, class of 1932.5
"Floyd Summerfield, 63, of RR 1 West Salem is the Democratic candidate for County Coroner in the Nov. 2 election.
"Summerfield and his wife, Vera, have two children, Charles of Sheridan, Wyoming and Sally of Mattoon. They also have eight grandchildren.
"Summerfield has lived his entire life in Edwards County. He attended grades one through eight at Harrison School Number Five between West Salem and Parkersburg. He graduated from West Salem High School in 1932.
"Summerfield is a self-employed auctioneer and farmer. He also drives a school bus from West Salem to Edwards Senior High School in Albion.
"Summerfield ran for County Commisioner eight years ago and was defeated by Walt Fishel. Summerfield defeated Fred Lee of Albion in the March Democratic Primary by a wide margin. Salem. [sic] Summerfield is a Fair Board Director from Salem No. 2 and is also in charge of the Sheep Department of the Edwards County Fair.
"Summerfield said because of a lack of time he will not be alble to call on all the voters he would like to, but would appreciate any vote or support." David Gubbins, 29, who had defeated the incumbent coroner in the Republican Primary, was the Republican candidate.6
Floyd was a farmer, living just west of West Salem, Illinois. He lost part of his left hand in a corn picker. Floyd also was an auctioneer for many of the auctions in the area. Besides these two occupations, he was employed for over thirty years as a bus driver for the Edwards County Schools.7
"Floyd L. Summerfield and Carolyn Y. Harrison were united in holy matrimony on September 23, 1982, at the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem. Rev. Chester Hout of Robinson, Illinois, officiated the 6 p.m. ceremony. The couples attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Russel Gill of West Salem. The brides son, Gary, was also present. Following the wedding, the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Gill and Gary Harrrison dined at the Old Mill Inn at Newton, Illinois."8
