     Her obituary states:
"ELIZABETH OLDS was born in Ohio on the 15th day of January, 1826. Had she lived until next Sunday, she would have reached the age of 85 years. When very young she removed with her parents to Wisconsin where they settled on a farm. Though for three months they were compelled to live in a fort on account of the hostile Indians. Moving again, the family settled on a farm one mile south of Warren, Illinois. Here Miss OLDS resided until her marriage in 1846, to WINDSOR RICHARDS, at which time the two went to Wisconsin but after five years returned to Warren where they lived until 1869, when they came to Decatur County, Iowa, and took up their residence on the Lee farm about three miles from Davis City. Here they resided until eight years ago when they became residents of Lamoni.
"There were born to Mr. And Mrs. RICHARDS six children, all of whom are living. They are: Miss JANE RICHARDS, Mrs. CHARLES LYLE, Mrs. EDA HABERKORN and Mrs. BELL ERVING, all of Lamoni, HENRY RICHARDS, of Clear Lake, Iowa, and Mrs. LIZZIE SPARGUR of Mt. Ayr. There is still living one sister of the family of twelve children to which Mrs. RICHARDS belonged, Mrs. HENRIETTA WILSON, of Warren, Illinois. Mr. RICHARDS passed away January 22, five years ago. For about sixty years this couple had lived happily together.
"For about three years, Grandma RICHARDS, as she was generally known, had been very feeble and suffered much from rheumatism and heart trouble. About a month ago a worse attack than usual seized her since which time she has been even more helpless and despondent than before, the last three weeks being spent in almost complete unconsciousness. During those months of suffering she had been cared for by her daughters at the home in Lamoni. Death for which she had long hoped, finally came to her on Wednesday evening January 4, 1911, and without struggle the body so long racked by pain and suffering received rest and the spirit was released.
"Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. R.M. Shipman on Thursday afternoon at half past two, and were attended by many neighbors and friends. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Lamoni."5

Elizabeth (Eliza) Olds was the daughter of Jesse Olds and Mercy Taft.1 Elizabeth (Eliza) Olds married William Jackson; he was "of Claysville, Ky." They had 12 children.2,3
ToDo: Was it Jonathan Jackson or William Jackson that married Eliza, daughter of Jesse Olds, in Kentucky. E. B. Olds may have this wrong.

Although the following quotation places the birth of Jesse Olds in Virginia, I have found no reason to believe that.
"Mrs. Mitchell comes of one of the old and well-known pioneer families of this county. Her father, Frederick A. Jackson, was born in Claysville, Harrison County, Ky., October 1, 1818, and was a son of William Jackson, a native of the same county. The father of the latter, great-grandfather of Mrs. Mitchell, was Jonathan Jackson. He was a native of Virginia, where he was reared and married, Eliza Olds becoming his wife. She was also a Virginian, and was a daughter of Jesse Olds, a native of the same State. Mr. Olds removed from Virginia to the Northwest Territory in the early days of the settlement of that part of the country, and stopped for a time on the present site of Vincennes, which was then a trading post. From there he went to Harrison County, Ky., and taught in different seminaries and academies in that State, having previously taught at Vermont and Vincennes. He was a graduate of Yale College, and a fine scholar. He also seems to have been a thorough business man, for, coming to Macoupin County in 1834, he settled in Honey Point Township, buying with his son Augustus quite a tract of land; he became wealthy, and at one time owned upward of thirty thousand acres in this county. He taught a few terms in Honey Point Township when he first located there, and he resided there the remainder of his life. The maiden name of his wife, great-greal-grandmother of Mrs. Mitchell, was Mercy Taft. She was born in Massachusetts and died in Madison County, this State.
"After his marriage, Jonathan Jackson went to Kentucky and was a pioneer of Harrison County, where he bought land and improved a farm, his death taking place there. His son William Jackson, was a blacksmith, and carried on his trade in connection with farming, his entire life being passed in Harrison County, where he died in 1849. His wife survived him many years, her death finally occurring at Claysville, Ky., in July, 1887."4

Elizabeth Anne Olds was born on 11 Jan 1952 at Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois.1 She was the daughter of Richard J. Olds and Elaine Mae Lundgren. Elizabeth Anne Olds was christened in Feb 1952 at Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois.
"WYANET -- Betty (Olds) Ehret, the daughter of Dick and Elaine Olds of Wyanet, recently received copies of her first published book from publisher N. L. Associates, Inc.
"The book, Science and Cooperative Learning, is an activity book designed for students in grades three to six. The activities incorporate science themes of dinosaurs, insects, plants, space, weather and cooperative learning. The book's main objective is for students to enjoy and appreciate science through cooperative groups.
"She was a 1970 graduate of Wyanet High School. She and her husband, Scott, reside in Sturtevant, Wis., and have two sons, Christopher Scott, 20, and Michael, 19.
"Ehret is currently a sixth grade teacher and school newspaper advisor in Mitchell Middle School in Racine, Wis. She has been employed in Racine Unified for seven years.
"Prior to teaching in Racine, she taught at the elementary level in El Paso, Texas, for 11 years."2

"Mrs. Elizabeth Ehret
As a child growing up in rural Illinois, my parents always placed a high emphasis on education, with my mother as the grade school secretary and bookkeeper and my father on the high school board of education. Neither parent graduated from college, but wanted their children to “follow their dreams” and have the opportunity to attend college.

Wyanet High School was a fabulous experience for me, as I participated in yearbook, drama, speech team, hall monitor, band and choir. After four wonderful years of high school, I headed to college. My first 3 college years, I attended Western Illinois University and then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin, where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. After several years I went back to college and received my Master's in Education degree with an emphasis in Language Arts. Over the years, I have also received the following teacher endorsements: Gifted, SEI-Sheltered English Immersion, ESL-English as a Second Language and Reading Specialist. Gifted education has always been a passion of mine and I am excited to work with the gifted students in the Laveen District.

Now after thirty + plus years of teaching in the classroom, I still feel the same excitement as I did on my very “first” day of teaching.

My accomplishments over the thirty years are credited to the wonderful students I have had the privilege to teach in Texas, Wisconsin, and Arizona. During those years I coached and advised students in: yearbook, newspaper, TV magazine program, Odyssey of the Mind, forensics, science fairs, and a literary magazine.
One of my fondest memories was co-creating the television news magazine, Exploration, in El Paso, Texas, with Janet Winstead, from 1985 to 1988. This news magazine featured the fourth and fifth grade students as anchors, news reporters, and writers as they researched important happenings in the El Paso community. Another proud moment was seeing my book, Science and Cooperative Learning, published in 1994, by Nathan Levy and Associates.

My hope is to instill in my students the love of learning, accomplishing difficult tasks with dignity, and encouraging kindness and generosity.
Robert Frost’s poem, The Road Not Taken, summed up my life as a teacher: “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”.3
