I have not yet included, in the list of John's children, the Dinah Davidge who married Alexander Warfield on 3 Dec. 1723. She would make the 8th child, but her birth, as well as Robert's, is not recorded in St. Anne's Parish records with the other children.8

Robert Davidge married Providence (?).1 Robert Davidge died in 1681/82.
Skordas lists a Robert Davidge who immigrated in 1670 and had married Sarah Tanney before 1669. His references are Liber 12, folio 471 and Liber 16, folio 73.2 The Robert Davidge referred to by Skordas may be a different man from the one who wrote his will in 1681 but Russell combines them. Under Thomas Tenny, Russell says "immigrated 1649 with wife Mary and daughter Sarah who married Robert Davidge of Anne Arundel County." She says Sarah married Robert Davidge by 1669. "A carpenter, he demanded the 300 acres due him by marriage to [sole heir] Sarah, for her father's rights. [Patents, 12:471] But based on the wording of Robert's will, Sarah was not the mother of his only son, so[if the two men are the same --DWO] she must have died ca. 1670 or a little later and he m. In an 1843 case presented to John Watson, ordinary of Greenville District, South Carolina, by John Davis and Gabriel Davis they stated that their father Joseph Davis had died several years past, intestate, leaving a widdow and children and that his widow had recently died. Joseph Davis, decd. had owned 90 acres, more or less, of land in Greenville District on the watesr of the South Pacolet river, adjoining William Blassiingame, Jesse Center and others. The sons were requesting an order that land be sold in order to divide the proceeds among the heirs who were:
The land was later described as part of a tract of land originally granted to Benjamin Huddleston. The heirs were summoned to appear at Greenville Court House on the first Monday of February [1846] and show cause, if any, why this should not be done. When the heirs signed their consent on 10 Nov 1845, both Jesse and Esther Burrell made their marks. The two out-of-state couples did not appear (having been notified for three months in the Greenville Mountaineer) . The decree was signed by Jno. Watson, O. G. D. [Ordinary, Greenville District] on 2 Feb 1846 and the land was sold by the sheriff to Andrew J. Ponder for $45.1
