"Mr. Wood worked as a carpenter for Russell Gill Handyman Service in West Salem. He attended the Heartland Worship Center in Mt. Carmel and was a U. S. Army Veteran.
"Survivors include his wife Eleanor (Case) Wood of Bone Gap; his mother, Charleen Wood of Mt. Carmel; two sons, Rev. Ben Wood of Columbus, Ohio and Tim Wood of Princeton, Indiana; two step sons, Karl Case of Bone Gap and Karson Case of West Salem; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Tom A.      George W. Woods was born on 14 Sep 1817 at Kentucky. He was the son of Andrew Woods and Cassandra Whaley. George W. Woods married Rebecca Gray, daughter of Daniel Gray and Susanna Taylor, on 24 Dec 1840 at Edwards County, Illinois. George W. Woods died on 3 Jan 1876 at Wabash County, Illinois, at age 58.
     In July 1863, George W. Woods of Bonpas Township, Richland County, Illinois, age 44, farmer, born in Kentucky, was listed as a person of Class II subject to military duty in the 11th Congressional District consisting of Richland County.
