"The only attendants were Miss Helen Lovejoy, a sister of the bride, as maid of honor, and Hervert Steen of Hartford as best man. Fully 400 guests were present at the reception which followed, coming from Hartford, Windsor and New Haven, Ct; Springfield, Boston and elsewhere.
"The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Olds of Hartford, and is the owner of a large tobacco plantation at Windsor. He is a graduate of Yale, class of '05, and first met his bride while she was a guest at a Juniior Prom at Yale several years ago.
"The bride is a graduate of the Lynn classical high school, class of '02, and of Wellesley College, class of '05.

"Miss Mary E. Lovejoy the Bride of Herbert V. Olds of Hartford.
"Miss Mary Emerson Lovejoy, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Lovejoy of Lynn, became the bride last evening of Herbert Vincent Olds, a Connecticut tobacco grower, at the home of the bride's parents, 64 Broad street, Lynn. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Ernest J, Dennen, rector, of St, Stephen's Church, at 7:30 o'clock.
"The only attendants were Miss Helen Lovejoy, a sister of the bride, as maid of honor, and Hervert Steen of Hartford as best man. Fully 400 guests were present at the reception which followed, coming from Hartford, Windsor and New Haven, Ct; Springfield, Boston and elsewhere.
"The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Olds of Hartford, and is the owner of a large tobacco plantation at Windsor. He is a graduate of Yale, class of '05, and first met his bride while she was a guest at a Juniior Prom at Yale several years ago.
"The bride is a graduate of the Lynn classical high school, class of '02, and of Wellesley College, class of '05.

He was married for 57 years to Mary Elliott Rankin of Lorraine, OH until her death in 1994. Mr. Olds had a distinguished 30-year career in the U.S. Foreign Service, during which he held various assignments as a consular or political officer in Havana, Cuba; Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Bogota, Colombia; and Brussels, Belgium. Mr. Olds also opened the first U.S. Consulates in Bujumbura, Burundi and Kigali, Rwanda and served as Consul General in Bujumbura for two years. He also held assignments in the Office of Personnel and the Bureau of African Affairs at the State Department in Washington, DC. Hezekiah Olds was born c 1809.3,4 He was the son of Joseph Olds and Hannah Bissell.1 Hezekiah Olds died on 29 Sep 1886.5,4 He was buried at Pioneer Cemetery, Hartford, Van Buren County, Michigan.5
"In 1839, Hezekiah Olds employed Thomas Conklin to erect for him a log house, 18 by 24 feet, in consideration for which service he was to receive a cow. The work was completed in thirteen days. Mr. Olds raked up the chips the same day and set them on fire, which not only burned the chips but the house also."6
Hezekiah may never have lived alone. He is listed with [his brother] John B. in 1850 and 1860 census reports and as an invalid, age 58, with AndrewJ. Olds in1870. In 1880, he was listed as a 75 year old uncle, disabled by rheumatism, in the home of Albert Olds.

[undated obit] Hiram C. Olds was born at Shandaken in 1840 and died at Mt. Pleasant, Feb. 21, 1906. His father, Cornelius Olds, was killed by an accident when Hiram was aout three years old. In 1864, Mr. Olds was married to Catherine Kelley.
To them was born two children who died in childhood. Mrs. Olds died in 1899. In April, 1901, he was married to Mrs. Cornelia Lane, who died in August of the same year. Nov. 26, 1903, Mr. Olds was married to Mrs. Helen Leake Every, of Shokan, who with his mother in her 89th year survives him. For 14 years Mr. Olds managed the Col. Snyder farms in Woodland. Eleven years ago he purchased the Abram Longyear farm at Mt. Pleasant, where he since resided. The funeral services were held at his late residence on Saturday, Feb. 24th, and were conducted by his former pastor, Rev. P. N. Chase, of Sugar Loaf, assisted by Rev. J. A. Hurn, of Phoenicia. Interment at Shokan.1

Hiram Olds was 56 years of age, and was born in Rock valley in Holyoke. He went to Florida 29 years ago, where he has had a successful fruit farm. He leaves a widow. His father, Jonathan Olds, left Holyoke 23 years ago to join his son in Florida."7

Homer Olds was born in Jul 1853 at Livingston County, Michigan.2 He was the son of Dewitt Clinton Olds and Abigail Snell.1 Homer Olds married Lidia Rose Huntoon on 1 May 1879 at Ingham County, Michigan.3,4,5 Homer Olds died on 14 Feb 1926 at age 726 and was buried at Star Township Cemetery, Star Township, Antrim County, Michigan.7

"The subject of this sketch spent his early days in Ingham county, this state, and was reared to an agricultural life, being early taught the lessons of industry and honesty which are more characteristic of farming than any other pursuit. About 1889 Mr. Olds went to Jackson county, this state, and remained there about four years. He then came to Antrim county and purchased a farm of eighty acres, all first-class land, of which he has about sixty cleared and under the plow. ... In 1870, Mr. Olds married Miss Lidia Rose Huntoon, the daughter of George and Lydia (Lindsey) Huntoon, farming people, and this union has been blessed by the birth of two children, Clinton and Clarence, both of whom are married and living in homes of their own. In politics Mr. Olds is a stanch Republican and takes a keen and abiding interest in the success of his party, though he has never been induced to accept any office of a public nature, preferring to give his farm his undivided interest. ..."3
